The Power of Generosity: Why Giving is Good for the Soul

December is a special time of the year — the giving season.

On December 23, 2023, we hit the streets and shared gifts with the poorest of the poor.

These photos depict the joy of giving every Christmas season. The Christmas bag contains 2 kilos of rice, 1 package of ham, 1 chiffon cake, and a variety of chocolates. As we began the distribution and our street friends started opening their gifts, we saw the excitement on their faces and they showed gratitude for what they received.

As I recount the gifts God has given us, I feel like a tiny child, presenting back to Him, that which He has abundantly given me.

When I think of God’s greatest gift, His Son, I think of the wise men who travelled from afar to worship the newborn King.

Matthew 2:1-2 – Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

Matthew 2:9b-11 – And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts,  gold frankincense and myrrh.
